Foal
A new foal is born on farms all the time; the assistance of a breeder assures good results.
American Quarter Horses require constant veterinary supervision, and pregnant mares must be inspected with particular attention. It is very important to put a pregnant mare to a comfortable place. Mares can restrain birth, and they do it if there is something they don’t like abut the surroundings. Gestation lasts about 340-350 days. Mares are excellent mothers, and one should not disregard the importance of professional supervision, as there is a likelihood of hereditary disorders. Training should be started at an early age, and punishment should not be overly tough or unfair.

farms, breeder
Prior to purchasing a horse, decide what you want it for. This breed is separated into two types, which perform various tasks and differ in body built. Stock type horses are compact and muscular yet extremely agile. Racing or hunter type is taller and smoother muscled; such horses are trained for running sprints. Owning a horse is a greater responsibility than owning other pets. Large animals need special conditions, proper nutrition and vet care. The owner should be knowledgeable on the possible sickness that can afflict the horse. Prevention is always easier and cheaper than cure.
